This eye catching .925 sterling silver pendant is made with a newly discovered semi-precious gemstone containing royal blue Azurite called K2. The pendant is 30 mm high x 17 mm at the widest point, overall height with the bail is 39 mm.
This unusual semi-precious gemstone was named K2 because it was found within sight of the world's second highest mountain K2 (also known as Chhogori/Qogir, Ketu/Kechu, and Mount Godwin-Austen). The region lies on the border between Baltistan, in the GilgitBaltistan region of northern Pakistan, and the Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County of Xinjiang, China. The gray material in the stone was identified as granite soon after its discovery, but the blue orb material in the stone was only recently identified by lab testing at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) as Azurite, with Manganese, Titanium, Strontium, and Chromium, as secondary minerals in the concentration. The amazing color of the royal blue Azurite in K2 is completely natural, the stone is not treated in any way. This stone is extremely durable due to the fact it's made of granite and be worn without worry of scratching. One year workmanship warranty (see our warranty policy page for exclusions), informational packet with a description of K2, and sterling silver care and storage instructions included.
